Americans were profoundly affected by the devastation that occurred in New Orleans when the levees failed following Hurricane Katrina. Comic Relief has made it a priority to respond to this disaster by contributing to the rebirth of New Orleans, one of our country's greatest cities.
Comic Relief feels it is important to show support for New Orleans in as many ways possible and will feature the work of many talented New Orleanians as part of its 20th anniversary show. Celebrated New Orleans artist Robert Guthrie has created a themed poster for the New Orleans event. This poster will be available for purchase on the night of the show and Guthrie will be on hand to sign copies. Twisted Fiction, one of New Orleans' premier production companies, has produced 6 vignettes that will air throughout the evening, showcasing the work of New Orleans director Kenny Morrison. These pieces offer a glimpse into the lives of real New Orleanians—how they are struggling, surviving, and rebuilding.
New Orleans may be down, but it most certainly is not out! Comic Relief 2006 will help this city laugh again while raising money to speed its recovery. Come join us at Harrah's Fulton Street and pass a good time now, cher!
